It’s January 2012, an election year. The candidates are campaigning in full force, the debate dates are set, and the race is all the average American sees in his morning newspaper. A man skims over the headlines, thinking he has time to make up his mind. Come July, he knows that Obama is the Democrat and Romney is the Republican. Obama has been in office for the past four years. Is he still running on “change”? Romney is apparently extremely wealthy, and he is a Mormon. Wait, does he have multiple wives? Can he do that? The man intends to watch the debates, but he forgot the first one and had dinner plans for the next. It’s November 6th, election day. He still doesn’t know who to vote for, so the man just pushes the button for the party he’s registered with. After all, he must vote for someone. It’s his right to participate. His patriotic duty, really. The results are in. he shouts to his wife in the kitchen, “It’s another four years with Obama, honey!” He keeps the news on for another minute to gather the general reaction, to make sure it was official. Then ESPN returns to the screen, and football reclaims its places on center stage.
